James E. Diekmann, Ph.D., M.ASCE
Peurifoy Construction Research Award from ASCE
“For his contributions in advancing the construction profession’s acceptance of alternative dispute resolution techniques and approaches to risk-based decision-making.”
James Diekmann is a Professor of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder Colorado. Diekmann joined the faculty in 1979 and since that time has been the head of the Construction Engineering and Management program. Diekmann is an active teacher and researcher in the Construction Management field, his work centers on applying new techniques of risk analysis to construction and hazardous waste projects and applying techniques emerging from the manufacturing domain to construction production management. Diekmann has conducted research projects for NSF, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. EPA, the U.S. DOE, CII and the AGC. Prior to joining Colorado Professor Diekmann worked for the Bechtel Corporation, Ebasco Services and as an active-duty member of the US Army Corps of Engineers. Professor Diekmann and his family live on the outskirts of Boulder, Colorado - USA

Bernard Amadei is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His main research and teaching interests have initially been in rock mechanics and engineering geology. He obtained his MaSc. degree in Civil Engineering in 1979 from the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering in 1982 from the University of California, Berkeley. He was recently elected a Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
Prof. Amadei is also the Founding President of Engineers Without Borders - USA (www.ewb-usa.org) and co-founder of Engineers Without Borders-International (www.ewb-international.org). The mission of EWB-USA is to partner with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible engineering professionals and students. |
