Graduate Degrees in Architectural Engineering
While the CEAE Department has offered a BS degree in architectural engineering since 1925, only civil engineering degrees have been offered at the graduate level. In May 2012, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education gave final approval for the establishment of MS and PhD degrees in architectural engineering. Over the coming months, the department will be developing the implementation of the degree program, including application procedures, eligibility, degree options, graduation requirements, and policies for transition of existing students. While the program is expected to follow the general departmental policies of the current civil engineering degrees, we look forward to tailoring the new degrees to the needs and opportunities of the architectural engineering community.
The following options are currently under consideration for both the MS and PhD degrees:
- Sustainable building design and operation
- Renewable energy systems
- Illumination engineering
- Construction engineering and management
We expect to be accepting applications in 2013 for students enrolling in 2014. Stay tuned!
