Robyn Sandekian

Robyn Sandekian is the managing director of the Mortenson Center in Engineering for Developing Communities (MC-EDC) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder). She earned BS and MS degrees in aerospace engineering sciences at CU-Boulder in 1992 and 1994, respectively, then remained on campus to work for the Women in Engineering Program (WIEP). In 1999 she became the associate manager of the Student Odyssey Project, which was charged with re-engineering student services processes on campus. Ms. Sandekian joined the Engineering for Developing Communities Program in spring 2004, just as the first EDC graduate track was approved through the newly titled MC-EDC.

Within MC-EDC, her main duties have included student advising and academic program development. In addition to her management role in the Mortenson Center, Ms. Sandekian has twice taught an engineering projects course around the theme of appropriate technology, and conducted research on social entrepreneurship and sustainable community development in Nepal in 2008. Ms. Sandekian earned a Specialist in Education (Ed. S.) degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Northern Colorado in May 2011 and will begin doctoral work in higher education student affairs leadership beginning in fall 2011.
