
The Mortenson Center in Engineering for Developing Communities (MC-EDC) promotes integrated and participatory solutions to humanitarian development by educating globally responsible engineering students and professionals to address the problems faced by developing communities worldwide.
EDC presents a unique opportunity for educating a new generation of engineers who contribute to the relief of the problems faced by developing communities worldwide. The Center emphasizes an integrated and participatory nature of humanitarian development. As such, it contributes to meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals. EDC encompasses education, research & development, and outreach/service related to sustainable community development. All EDC students work on real projects.
MC-EDC provides an undergraduate track in the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) Department. Graduate tracks are also available in the MS/PhD program in Environmental Engineering and the MS/PhD program in Civil Systems. For more information, check the EDC Education web page.
