Welcome to the homepage for the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering. The fields of civil, environmental and architectural engineering offer careers in the planning, design, construction and management of the built environment as well as in the interaction between the built environment and the natural environment.
Civil and architectural engineers are the stewards of our environment. There are significant interdisciplinary challenges in refining and maintaining the quality and sustainability of the infrastructure of interconnected systems, which are important to our quality of life. These systems include buildings, highways, rapid transit lines, airports, bridges, retaining walls, dams, stream channels, pipelines, wastewater treatment systems, and environmental remediation and reclamation projects. The response of this infrastructure to natural hazards and environmental interaction is a critical challenge in this area.
The faculty and staff within the CEAE department are committed to educating the next generation of engineers and leading the development of this field through research and outreach. Please follow the submenu links to learn more about the department and how to contact us.
